Fundraising for Building Project a Big Success –Credit to Sangat
Written by Harjot Singh Khalsa
Friday, 13 June 2008
On June 7th, 2008 Fremont Gurdwara’s executive committee sewadars started a fund raising drive to raise funds for the ongoing construction projects at Gurdwara Sahib. The Sikh sangat of Gurdwara Sahib-Fremont enthusiastically participated in fund raising by gifting money to Gurdwara Sahib. The first day of fund raising drive was also broadcast live on Punjabi radio Geet Sangeet.

This fund raising effort has been undertaken to secure enough funds to finish the canopy project for Gurdwara Sahib and for other much needed urgent upgrades. Building of the canopy will save Gurdwara Sahib and sangat money that is presently being spent on renting tents for various events like seminars and marriages. It will also provide a covered area for eating langar outside and extra sitting capacity during large kirtan darbars. We strongly request the sangat to give money for this cause. Gurdwara Sahib’s management is also requesting nearly 10,000 voting members of seven counties to give money out of their daswandh for this project.

Written by Lt. Col. Surjit Singh Nishan
Wednesday, 04 June 2008
Guru Arjan Dev JiBibi Bhani wife of Guru Ramdas gave birth to Guru Arjan Dev Ji on Thursday 19th Vaisakh 1620 corresponding to 15th April 1563 at Goindwal Dist. Amritsar. He was married to Ganga Devi at the age of 18 and ascended to Gurgadi on 01 Asu 1638 corresponding to 31st August 1581.

During the time of his Gurgadi he travelled throughout Punjab and preached LOVE TO All “ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੈਰੀ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ”, WE ARE ALL CHILDREN OF ONE GOD (Father) “ਏਕ ਪਿਤਾ ਏਕਸ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਕ”, and his message was universal and for every body irrespective of cast, color or religion “ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੂਦ ਵੈਸ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਝਾ” He not only gave religious sermons but also established cities like Sri Hargobindpur Sahib (1587), Tarantaran Sahib (1590), Kartarpur Sodian (1593), Chheharta Sahib (1595) and Harimandir Sahib in 1588 for the economic growth and overall development of PUNJAB. Thus his activities created a very strong movement of love, tolerance and amity and all round progress of Punjab which contributed to his wide spread popularity and admiration amongst the masses.
